How to enable 5G auto on your iPhone for optimal performance
Why enable 5G auto?
Enabling 5G Auto on your iPhone activates Smart Data mode, which allows your device to automatically switch between 5G and LTE networks. When 5G speeds don't provide a noticeably better experience, your iPhone will switch to LTE automatically, saving battery life.
Without this setting enabled, your iPhone may not utilize 5G networks efficiently, potentially leading to reduced battery performance.
How to enable 5G auto on your iPhone
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap Mobile Service.
- Select your SIM
- Tap Voice & Data.
- Choose 5G Auto.
By selecting 5G Auto, your iPhone will balance performance and battery life by switching between 5G and LTE as needed.
If you don't see the 5G option or experience issues, ensure that your carrier supports 5G and that you're in an area with 5G coverage. For more information, refer to Apple's support page on using 5G with your iPhone.
